The history of the company begins in 1948 when CHARALAMPOS D. TOMASSIS establishes in the area of Patras a small handicraft for the manufacture of simple mechanical scales and bridges. The sons of Charalambos Tomassis take over the management of the company in a short period of time and operate under the new name 'SONS CH. TOMASSIS GP'. In 1974 the company is installed in new privately owned and modern facilities, for that time, in Exo Agyia Patras. For more than half a century, the company has been on an upward path of development, gaining experience and know-how with hundreds of weighing system installations throughout Greece.
2002 is a transitional period for the company and as a result is the establishment of NIK. & CHAR. TOMASSIS G.P. which is staffed by qualified electronic engineers, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers. The company, following the rapid developments of technology, constantly adapts the range of its weighing products and at the same time develops partnerships of strategic importance with large companies abroad.
In 2005, it invests in new privately owned state-of-the-art facilities with a total area of 6000 m2 in the Industrial Area (Industrial Area) of Patras as well as in mechanical equipment so that it can be competitive in quality of construction and delivery time.
In 2010 the company proceeds to expand the industrial plot where the industrial building is housed by 2500m2 and at the same time expands its production area exclusively for the construction of bridges and their components.
In 2019, the company, following the new legislation of Metrology on manual weighing systems, proceeds with a new investment and installs an internal metrology laboratory. The company NIK. & CHAR. ΤΟΜΑΣΗΣ G.P. certified by a European body for obtaining a quality system compliance certificate based on Annex II Module D of European Directive 2014/31 / EU.
In 2021 the company proceeds to a new investment of building and mechanical installations in order to be able to meet the increased and demanding needs of its customers. The new investment includes expansion of the production area, purchase and installation of a new innovative robotic welding system for metal bridges, as well as a new CNC drilling machine. The purpose of the company with the new investment is to reduce the manufacturing time of its products by 75% as well as sets new high and controlled standards in the quality of the final products it offers.
